Rick to host DORA awards, MACHOMER gets a DORA nomination!

Rick Miller is slated to host the 28th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards on Monday June 25 at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto.  To top things off, Rick's show MACHOMER has been nominated for Outstanding Touring Production, alonside plays by Peter Brook and Mabou Mines.

"The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) has announced that the extraordinary Rick Miller will host the award show ceremony, making for a truly memorable evening. As artistic director of WYRD Productions, Mr. Miller is the creator of the worldwide smash hit MACHOMER, and co-creator (with Necessary Angel’s Daniel Brooks) of the multi-Dora Award-winning BIGGER THAN JESUS, both of which have toured to international acclaim. Among his current projects is a collaboration with world-renowned Robert Lepage on LIPSYNCH, which will be presented in Montreal in June as part of the inaugural Festival TransAmeriques.

The Dora Awards celebrate excellence in theatre, dance and opera on Toronto stages. In total, 35 Dora statuettes will be presented in the General Theatre, Independent Theatre, Dance, Opera and Theatre for Young Audiences divisions.
